Finally passed my DGT exam after two failed attempts — here's what worked

I'm not going to sugarcoat it — I failed this thing twice before I actually sat down and took my prep seriously. The first time I walked in barely knowing the format, figured my driving experience would carry me. It didn't. Second time I studied but only used random YouTube videos and a textbook from like 2019. Still failed by four points.

What finally clicked for me was finding a solid DGT practice test that actually mirrored the real question style. The wording on the actual exam is very specific — they love these scenario-based questions where two answers look almost identical. Once I started drilling those daily for about three weeks, my confidence shot up. I also grabbed a DGT study guide that broke down the traffic signs section, which I'd been completely ignoring.

My exam tips for anyone in the same boat: don't skip the hazard perception stuff, give yourself at least 30 days of consistent review, and do timed practice sessions — the clock pressure is real. Happy to answer questions if anyone's prepping right now.

This is so relatable, I failed my first attempt too and felt completely blindsided. The scenario questions are brutal if you're not used to them. I spent about an hour a day for five weeks on practice tests and ended up scoring an 87. The traffic regulations section is where I lost the most points early on — definitely worth extra focus there. Congrats on passing!

Congrats! Three weeks of daily drilling is exactly the right approach. I did the same thing and passed on my first try. Timed practice is non-negotiable — you don't realize how fast the clock moves until you're actually sitting there.

Quick question — when you say the practice test mirrored the real format, do you mean the number of questions and time limit too? I'm taking mine in six weeks and I want to simulate the actual test conditions as closely as possible. Also did you find the sign recognition questions harder than the rule-based ones? Those always trip me up.
