Studying for the CVP (Certified Volunteer Professional) exam through CCVA. I manage a volunteer program at a mid-size nonprofit with about 200 active volunteers. The exam content areas look very familiar to my daily work but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything in the formal body of knowledge.
The study guide mentions Standards for Excellence and volunteer management competencies. Are there specific weak spots that trip up people with practical experience?

People with strong practical experience sometimes trip up on the formal framework terminology. The CVP tests whether you can name and describe concepts in the standardized way, not just demonstrate them. Know the official competency language.

The risk management and legal compliance sections caught me off guard. Volunteer liability, background check requirements, and duty of care are tested more rigorously than most practitioners expect.

The CCVA study guide plus Energize Inc's resources are the primary study materials most people use. The practice exam from CCVA is worth the cost — it's the best indicator of your readiness.
