NSCA CSSD exam — is 4 months enough time from a strength background?

Certified strength coach here (CSCS for 5 years) looking to add the CSSD (Certified Special Strength and Conditioning Diploma). My sports nutrition knowledge is solid from practical experience but it's scattered — I've never formally studied the dietetics side.

The CSSD content guide covers nutritional assessment, sports nutrition protocols, and supplementation research. The dietetics portions look like they could be a full semester course. Is 4 months reasonable starting from a strength background with decent nutrition knowledge?

Four months is tight but doable with focused study. The nutrition assessment and macronutrient timing sections are the most content-heavy. Williams' Nutrition for Health, Fitness, and Sport is the main textbook — plan to spend real time with it.

I'd suggest doing a practice exam early to identify your weak areas rather than studying evenly across all domains. Your CSCS background means the exercise prescription questions will be easy points.

The supplementation research section was harder than I expected because the exam tests current evidence, not bro-science. Make sure you're up to date on the actual evidence base for common supplements — creatine, caffeine, beta-alanine, etc.
