CSP exam — how did you handle the breadth vs depth tradeoff in studying?

Scheduled my Certified Safety Professional exam for 8 weeks out. I've been in safety for 7 years (manufacturing, construction) and I feel confident in maybe 60% of the safety management content. The environmental and industrial hygiene portions are where I'm thin.

The exam covers 10 domains and I can't go deep on all of them in 8 weeks while working full time. How did you prioritize? Did you find certain domains had disproportionately more questions?

Also — open book vs closed book feel? I know it's a closed exam but trying to understand if the questions test recall or application more heavily.

Application over recall by a large margin. The questions give you scenarios and ask what you'd do — knowing the formula isn't enough, you need to understand why. That actually helped me study smarter: focus on concepts not definitions.

The ASSP practice exams are the best prep. Do them untimed first to understand your gaps, then timed to simulate the real thing. Eight weeks is enough time if you're strategic about it.

I prioritized Safety Management, Hazard Recognition, and Incident Investigation because those three together cover maybe 40% of the exam based on the content blueprint. Environmental was a smaller chunk and I did a quick review rather than deep dive.
