Finally passed CSCP after two attempts — here's what actually worked

So I passed the CSCP last Tuesday and I'm still kind of in shock. Failed my first attempt back in November by about 40 points, which was devastating after three months of studying. The problem was I was using the APICS study materials almost exclusively and they're just... a lot of dense reading without much application.

Second time around I completely changed my approach. I found a solid CSCP practice test bank online and started doing timed drills every morning before work — like 20-30 questions, then reviewing every single wrong answer. That shift from passive reading to active recall made a massive difference. I also grabbed a focused study guide that broke down the three modules (SCOR, Supply Chain Strategy, and Implementation) into actual digestible chunks instead of just restating the APICS manual.

For context: I work in procurement at a mid-size manufacturer, so the operational side came naturally. The financial metrics in Module 2 were my weak spot. Total study time second attempt was probably 180 hours over four months. Happy to share more specific exam tips if anyone's prepping right now.

Congrats! This is super encouraging. I'm 6 weeks out from my exam date and Module 2 is killing me too — specifically cash-to-cash cycle time and all the inventory turnover calculations. Did you use any particular practice test resource or just generic ones? I've been doing the APICS online tests but honestly they feel way easier than what people describe on the actual exam.

Thanks for posting this. Failing and coming back is honestly harder than just grinding through on the first try — takes real discipline to regroup. Saving this thread for when I inevitably have a bad practice score week and need the motivation.

Two attempts is nothing to be embarrassed about — I know people who went three rounds. The practice test point is real though. I passed on my first try but I was doing 50+ questions a day the last six weeks. The actual exam asks you to *apply* concepts to scenarios, not just define them. Big difference. Also: don't sleep on the sustainability and risk management content, it's showing up more in recent exam versions apparently.
