Finally passed my CPESC after two attempts — here's what actually helped
So I finally got my CPESC certification last month after failing my first attempt back in February. Honestly, the first time I walked in I thought my field experience would carry me through, but erosion and sediment control regulations are way more nuanced than I expected — especially the state-specific stormwater stuff. I scored a 68 when I needed a 70. Embarrassing but a good wake-up call.
What turned things around for me was actually committing to a real study schedule instead of just skimming my CPESC study guide the night before. I spent about six weeks doing 45-minute sessions most evenings, focusing heavily on best management practices and the regulatory framework sections. I also used a CPESC practice test to identify my weak spots — turns out I was consistently weak on inlet protection and construction site calculations.
Has anyone else found the hydrology math section tricky? I know the formulas but under exam pressure I kept second-guessing myself. Happy to share the specific resources that helped if anyone's prepping right now.
