I've been going back and forth on whether to pursue CBC certification and wanted to get honest input from people who've actually done it.
On paper, having cbc credentials on your resume looks great. But I'm wondering whether employers actually differentiate between certified and non-certified candidates in practice, or whether it just checks a box.
My current role doesn't require the CBC but a senior position I'm targeting lists it as preferred. I've been using the cbc practice test pdf to study and cbc for the broader context — the content is solid, but I want to make sure the certification itself carries weight before investing another 12 weeks.
For anyone who got the CBC cert: did it open doors you wouldn't have otherwise had? Any salary bump or was it more of a formality for a promotion you were already on track for?
Late to this thread but wanted to add — the cbc section trips up more people than any other part. If you're scoring below 70% there in practice, treat it as your only focus for at least a week before moving on. Breadth at the expense of depth in that area is a common mistake.
Really helpful breakdown, thanks for sharing. I'm at week 2 of my CBC prep and the cbc section is exactly where I'm struggling too. Going to try the approach you described and see if it moves my scores.
Coming back to this thread — just passed my CBC yesterday. Everything about the cbc practice test section is accurate. For anyone still studying, the cbc practice test pdf was the closest thing to the real exam I found.
Just wanted to jump in with a quick update since I've been lurking this thread for weeks. Took a CBC practice test last night and scored a 74, which honestly felt way better than my first attempt two months ago where I was barely hitting 58. Still not where I want to be but it's progress. I'm planning to sit the real exam sometime in mid-July, so I've got about five weeks to shore up the weak spots.
On the career question, I can't speak from personal experience yet but the people on my team who have it seem to get pulled into higher-level projects more often. It's not like they got instant raises or anything, but there's definitely a visibility difference. That's what's keeping me motivated through the study grind honestly.
