Best free resources for C27 License - C-27 Landscaping Contractor License prep in 2026 — compiled list
I've been compiling resources as I study for my C27 License - C-27 Landscaping Contractor License certification and figured I'd share what I've found. All free unless noted.
Practice Tests:
- PracticeTestGeeks — most comprehensive collection I've found, good question explanations, covers C27 License - C-27 Landscaping Contractor License, CBI - Certified Building Inspector, and CCM - Certified Construction Manager. Free.
- Official practice materials from the certifying body — usually 1 free sample exam, worth doing even though it's short
Study Materials:
- The official C27 License - C-27 Landscaping Contractor License exam handbook / candidate guide (PDF, free from the certifying body's website)
- YouTube — search for "C27 License - C-27 Landscaping Contractor License exam prep" — there are surprisingly good free video reviews for most construction management certifications
- Reddit r/certifications — people post their exam experiences and tips regularly
Paid (worth it if budget allows):
- Official study guides run $30-80 for most construction management certifications — worth it if your exam has lots of specific factual content
- Some certifying bodies offer prep courses — check if your employer covers it (many do for required certifications)
What resources have others found useful for construction management exams? I'll add them to this list.
Great list. I'd add: LinkedIn Learning has some construction management-related courses that overlap with cert content, and if you have a library card many libraries give free access to it. Also check if your local library has access to O'Reilly or similar — tons of technical content there.
The official candidate guide is something a lot of people skip but it literally tells you the topic weighting and domain breakdown. It's the roadmap for your study plan. Never skip it.
For C27 License - C-27 Landscaping Contractor License specifically, I found the PracticeTestGeeks explanations were detailed enough that I didn't need to buy a separate study guide. The combination of doing the practice questions + reading every explanation (for both right and wrong answers) covered most of the content I needed.
Something that really clicked for me was focusing on the wrong answers just as much as the right ones. When I'd get a question wrong, I didn't just move on — I'd actually figure out why each wrong choice was wrong, not just why the right one was right. Took more time but honestly it's what made the material stick.
The C27 stuff has a lot of tricky areas where two answers look almost identical, so if you don't understand why the other options are wrong you'll keep second-guessing yourself on test day. I've seen people memorize the correct answers cold and still struggle because they didn't build that deeper understanding. Wasn't always easy to do with free resources but it's worth the extra effort.
Quick update for anyone following this thread — hit 78% on my last full practice run yesterday, which felt pretty good considering I bombed the first attempt two weeks ago. I've been drilling the financial stuff pretty hard lately, especially the free c 27 license project value limit questions since that section tripped me up early on.
Sitting the real exam on the 19th. Honestly it's closer than I'd like but I feel ready enough. If you're in the same boat just keep grinding the practice tests and don't skip the explanations when you get something wrong, that's what's helped me most.
