Failed passenger transport endorsement twice — what am I missing here?

So I've been trying to get my passenger transport endorsement for about three months now and I keep hitting a wall on the pre-trip inspection questions and the specific rules around transporting passengers with disabilities. I passed my CDL Class B no problem, but this endorsement is kicking my butt. First attempt I scored a 74 (need a 80 to pass in my state), second time an 78. So close but I keep running out of time and second-guessing myself on the emergency exit stuff.

I've been using a couple of different Commercial Driving Passenger Transport practice tests online and they've helped, but I feel like I'm just memorizing answers rather than actually understanding the logic behind the rules. Has anyone found a good Commercial Driving study guide that explains the why behind the regulations? I've got about four weeks until I can retest and I really need this endorsement to take a school bus driver position that's been offered to me.

Any tips from people who've already passed this thing would be seriously appreciated. What topics should I be drilling hardest in the last stretch?

The emergency exit and evacuation procedures tripped me up too. What finally clicked for me was watching actual school bus safety training videos on YouTube — seeing the physical process made the rules stick way better than just reading them. For the disability transport questions, I'd focus on the ADA requirements around securement systems. That section alone was probably 4-5 questions on my test. I went from failing to passing with an 87 once I really locked that down.

I used the Commercial Driving Passenger Transport 2 and Commercial Driving Passenger Transport 3 practice sets back to back — doing multiple sets helps because you start seeing the same concepts worded totally differently, which is exactly what the real exam does. The time pressure is real too. I set a timer when I practice now. Like 45 seconds per question max, which forces you to trust your first instinct instead of overthinking it.

Four weeks is plenty of time, honestly. I crammed for this in about 10 days. The exam tips that helped me most: know your passenger counts for different vehicle types cold, and don't overlook the railroad crossing rules — those come up more than you'd think. Good luck with the school bus job!
