Taking the CNHA exam next month — where do I even start?

So I finally bit the bullet and scheduled my CNHA exam for June 28th and now I'm kind of panicking. I've been a nursing home administrator for about three years but I honestly had no idea how broad this certification covers until I started looking at the content outline. Federal regulations, financial management, HR, environment of care — it's a lot to hold in your head at once.

I picked up a CNHA study guide from ACHCA but I'm wondering if that's enough on its own. Has anyone used a CNHA practice test to gauge where they're at before the real thing? I've been scoring in the low 70s on some sample questions I found online and I'm not sure if that's worrying or expected at this stage. Aiming to hit at least 80% consistently before I sit.

Any exam tips from people who've actually passed recently would be huge. Specifically curious how much weight the federal regs section carries compared to the leadership/HR stuff. Thanks in advance — this community has been a lifesaver.

I passed mine in February after about six weeks of studying. Honestly the CNHA practice test on the ACHCA prep portal was the most useful thing I did — way more realistic than the textbook questions. The federal regs section is no joke, probably felt like 30% of what I saw. I'd drill those hard. Low 70s this early is totally fine, I was around there at week three and ended up passing comfortably. Give yourself structured review time every day and you'll get there.

Six weeks out is plenty of time if you're consistent. I did 90 minutes a day, no weekends, and passed on my first attempt. The low 70s will climb fast once the material starts clicking together. You've got this.

The financial management piece surprised me the most. I thought I knew it from day-to-day work but the exam goes deeper into budget variance analysis and Medicaid reimbursement models than I expected. My exam tip would be don't skip the environment of care stuff either — physical plant and safety questions showed up more than I thought they would. What study guide are you using? I mixed the ACHCA materials with some NAB prep resources and found the overlap really helpful for reinforcing weak spots.
