Finally passed CEAC after two attempts — what actually worked for me

So I finally got my CEAC certification last month after failing the first attempt back in February, and I wanted to share what made the difference because I couldn't find much real talk about this exam when I was studying. First time around I relied mostly on my work experience and skimmed a couple of books — scored a 68, needed a 75. Embarrassing but whatever.

Second attempt I completely changed my approach. I spent about six weeks using a structured CEAC study guide that actually mapped to the current exam domains, which helped me see where my gaps were. Compliance and ethics sections destroyed me the first time. I also worked through a CEAC practice test every Sunday to get used to the question style — the wording is tricky and you need reps to stop second-guessing yourself.

Biggest CEAC exam tip I can give: don't ignore the regulatory frameworks section. I assumed my day-to-day experience covered it, but the exam goes deeper than what most of us deal with practically. Anyone else taking this soon or just finished? Happy to answer questions.

Congrats on passing! I'm about three weeks out from my exam date and the practice tests have been a lifesaver honestly. My issue is time management — I keep running out of time on the longer scenario questions. Did you find that improved naturally with more practice or did you have a specific strategy for pacing yourself through the harder ones?

This is really helpful, thanks for posting. I failed once too and thought I was the only one lol. The ethics and compliance domain got me as well — I think a lot of people underestimate it because it sounds straightforward but the situational questions are genuinely hard. How many practice exams did you do total before your second attempt? I'm trying to figure out how many I need before I feel ready.

Six weeks of focused prep sounds about right from what I've heard. I passed on my first try but I put in a solid eight weeks. The regulatory stuff is no joke — made flashcards just for that domain and it paid off. Good luck to everyone still grinding through it.
