So I finally cleared the CCTC last Friday and honestly I'm still a little in shock. First attempt back in January I scored a 68 — needed a 75 to pass — and I was devastated. I'd been in clinical trials coordination for three years and figured my experience would carry me. It didn't. The exam goes deep on regulatory stuff I handle day-to-day but never really studied.
Second time around I gave myself eight weeks and actually built a schedule. I spent the first three weeks just on ICH E6 GCP guidelines and FDA regulations because that's where I bled points the first time. I also worked through a CCTC practice test every Sunday to track where I was still weak. That weekly diagnostic approach made a huge difference — I could see my protocol deviation and safety reporting scores climbing week over week.
The CCTC study guide I used (the ACRP one) was dense but worth it. My biggest tip: don't skip the ethics and informed consent sections even if they feel obvious. They're not. Happy to answer questions if anyone's preparing right now.
