So I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to share my experience since I couldn't find a lot of honest posts about the CCST. Failed my first attempt back in February with a 68% — thought I'd studied enough but the hands-on simulation questions completely threw me. Spent the next six weeks doing a complete reset on my approach.
What made the difference was using a solid CCST practice test routine instead of just rereading slides. I did 30-40 questions every single evening and tracked which domains I kept missing. For me it was network fundamentals and endpoint security — I was consistently scoring under 60% on those until I drilled them specifically. A good study guide helped me understand the WHY behind answers, not just memorize them.
Walked in last Thursday and passed with an 82%. Total study time was probably 90 hours spread over three months. If anyone's prepping right now and wants to talk through exam tips or specific topics, happy to help — ask me anything below.
