Finally passed CCST on second attempt — here's what actually worked

So I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to share my experience since I couldn't find a lot of honest posts about the CCST. Failed my first attempt back in February with a 68% — thought I'd studied enough but the hands-on simulation questions completely threw me. Spent the next six weeks doing a complete reset on my approach.

What made the difference was using a solid CCST practice test routine instead of just rereading slides. I did 30-40 questions every single evening and tracked which domains I kept missing. For me it was network fundamentals and endpoint security — I was consistently scoring under 60% on those until I drilled them specifically. A good study guide helped me understand the WHY behind answers, not just memorize them.

Walked in last Thursday and passed with an 82%. Total study time was probably 90 hours spread over three months. If anyone's prepping right now and wants to talk through exam tips or specific topics, happy to help — ask me anything below.

This is really encouraging to read. I failed once already and honestly almost gave up. The endpoint security stuff kills me every time. I've been going through a study guide section by section but maybe I need to flip my approach and start with practice questions first to figure out my weak spots before reading. Did you use flashcards at all or mostly full-length timed tests?

That 30-40 questions per night habit is the move. Consistency beats cramming every time with these exams. I did something similar for my A+ and it works. Good exam tips all around — congrats and good luck to everyone else grinding through it.

Congrats on passing! I'm about five weeks out from my exam date and the simulation questions are exactly what's stressing me out too. Did you find any particular resource that was closest to the actual format? I've been using a couple different CCST practice test banks but they feel inconsistent in difficulty. Also curious — how heavy was the coverage on wireless security vs. everything else?
