Okay so I'm pretty frustrated right now. I sat for the Certified Billing Specialist exam last Tuesday and got my results yesterday — 68%, and passing is 72%. Four lousy points. I've been working in medical billing for about 14 months and honestly thought I had a decent handle on things, but the coding and payer-specific rules sections absolutely wrecked me. I studied for about three weeks using my company's training materials plus a couple of YouTube videos.
For anyone who's passed this, what actually helped you prepare? I've heard mixed things about the CBS practice test materials available online — some people swear by them, others say they're nothing like the real exam. I'm also wondering if a structured CBS study guide would be worth buying or if I should just double down on the official AMBA content. I want to retake in 8 weeks and I really can't afford to fail again financially or emotionally.
Any CBS exam tips from people who've been through this would be genuinely appreciated. Especially around the compliance and appeals sections — those caught me off guard.
