Finally passed C4 after two attempts — here's what actually worked

So I just got my results back yesterday and I finally passed the C4 on my second attempt. First time around I went in pretty underprepared — studied maybe two weeks, skimmed the official materials, and figured my field experience would carry me. Scored a 68 and needed a 75. Classic overconfidence.

This time I gave myself six weeks and actually used a structured C4 study guide instead of just rereading the handbook. The big difference was doing timed practice questions every single day. I found that the C4 practice test questions I was drilling really helped me get comfortable with how they phrase things — the wording on the actual exam is tricky if you're not used to it.

A few C4 exam tips that genuinely helped me: focus heavily on the regulatory and compliance sections, don't ignore the scenario-based questions (there are more than you'd expect), and time yourself strictly during practice. I was running out of time on attempt one without even realizing it was a pattern. Anyone else prepping right now or have questions?

Congrats! I passed mine about four months ago and totally agree about the wording. I'd read a question and think I knew the answer, then second-guess myself because of how it was framed. Doing high-volume practice questions fixed that more than anything else. I did around 300 practice questions over my last two weeks of prep. The scenario-based ones especially — once you see enough of them, the patterns click.

This is really encouraging, thank you. I'm scheduled for my first attempt in about five weeks and honestly feeling nervous. I have solid hands-on experience but I've heard the regulatory content is harder than expected if you're coming purely from a practical background. How deep did the compliance questions actually go? Like were they testing specific code numbers or more conceptual understanding?

The compliance stuff is more conceptual than code-specific, in my experience. Know the principles and when they apply — you don't need to memorize exact section numbers. Good luck on your exam!
