How long did it take you to pass your Business Certifications exam?

So I've been studying for my business certification for about six weeks now and honestly I'm starting to question whether I'm doing this right. I work full-time in accounting and I'm squeezing in maybe an hour or two each night, but the financial management content is kicking my teeth in. Budgeting concepts I thought I understood from my job turn out to be way more nuanced on the actual exam material.

I've been using a Business Certifications Business Certifications Financial Management & Budgeting practice test to gauge where I'm at, and I'm scoring around 68-72% consistently. From what I've read you need 75% to pass, so I'm close but not there yet. Has anyone else hit this kind of plateau? I feel like I know the material but something's not clicking under timed conditions.

Would love to hear how others structured their study guide approach and any exam tips that actually moved the needle for you. Especially curious how long people studied before feeling genuinely ready.

Six weeks is actually pretty reasonable for a first attempt. I studied for eight weeks working about 90 minutes a day and passed with a 79%. The financial management section was my weak spot too — what helped me was doing timed practice sets instead of just reading. Once I started treating every practice session like the real thing, my score jumped almost 8 points in two weeks. Definitely push through the plateau, it's normal around that 68-72% range.

68-72% this close to the exam is a good sign, not a bad one. Keep hammering the practice tests and focus on reviewing every wrong answer — not just what the right answer is, but WHY. That's what finally got me over the line. You're close.

Honestly the timed pressure is a separate skill from just knowing the content. I failed my first attempt even though I understood the material — I kept second-guessing myself and running out of time on the calculation questions. Second time around I specifically practiced budgeting and variance analysis under a stopwatch. Also tried the Business Certifications Business Certifications Financial Management & Budgeting 2 practice test which had slightly harder questions and I think that raised my floor. What's your weakest sub-topic?
