BCC mentor coaching hours — how strict is CCE about documentation?

I'm working toward my BCC application and I'm about 40 hours short on mentor coaching hours. My coaching work is solid — I've got over 500 paid client hours — but the mentor coaching documentation is what's holding up my application. I've been working with a CCE-approved mentor but we've been inconsistent about written session summaries, which I now realize are needed for verification.

My question is how strict CCE actually is during the credential review. The application materials say mentor coaching hours need to be verified by the mentor, but I've heard varying things about whether detailed session logs are required or whether a mentor attestation letter is sufficient. I don't want to submit and get rejected on a technicality when the actual work is documented and real.

I'm also wondering about the exam itself — for anyone who's recently sat for the BCC exam, how heavily does it test ICF vs BCC-specific competencies? I know the BCC uses a different competency framework than ICF and I want to make sure my study focus is right. I've been studying the CCE Core Coaching Competencies but I'm not sure how much the exam diverges from ICF language.

Planning to take the exam about 6 weeks after submitting the application, assuming it gets approved. Is that a realistic gap or should I be studying now regardless?

500 client hours is well above the threshold — that part of your application is solid. Most rejections I've heard about were documentation formatting issues, not hour count. A quick email to CCE's credentialing office with a specific question about mentor attestation usually gets a clear answer within a week.

Start studying now regardless of when your application clears. Six weeks is a fine exam prep window but only if you start before the application decision, not after. The review process can take 4-6 weeks on its own.

CCE was straightforward with my application — my mentor wrote a one-page attestation letter confirming the hours and sessions, and that was accepted without detailed logs. I'd contact CCE directly to ask about their current documentation requirements before assuming you need more than you have.

The exam leans on CCE's own competency framework, not ICF language. The biggest practical difference I noticed was more emphasis on ethical decision-making scenarios and professional boundaries compared to ICF-style coaching skill questions. Know the CCE ethics code well.
