Failed CAM by 3 points — what should I change?

Just got my score back. So close it hurts.

I felt okay going in but clearly there were gaps. Looking back at my prep, I spent a lot of time on "CAM" but I think I underestimated how deep they go on CAM exam.

The weird thing is I scored fine on the concept questions but tanked on the application ones. Like I understood the theory but when it came to scenario-based questions I kept second-guessing myself.

For anyone who's failed and then passed — what changed? Did you switch study materials? More practice tests? Different time of day?

Also curious whether the CAM score report tells you which sections you were weak in. Mine just shows an overall score and I have no idea where exactly I lost points.

Worth mentioning: the free aviation manager business management covers exactly the areas people tend to struggle with most.

Quick data point: I spent 8 weeks studying, 2-3 hours a day, and passed with a 75%.

The section on CAM exam took me the longest to feel confident about. Eventually I just drilled practice questions until I could answer them without hesitation.

What testing center did you end up booking? Some of them have much shorter wait times than others right now.

Went through this exact question when I was prepping. The CAM material on "CAM" is actually not as bad as it looks — once it clicks it clicks.

What helped me was finding one resource that explained it from first principles instead of just giving me the "right answer." Made a huge difference on the scenario-based questions.

Also: don't underestimate the importance of reviewing your wrong answers more than your right ones. I learned more from 20 wrong answers than 200 correct ones.

Quick update: just cleared 81% on my most recent CAM practice set using free aviation manager aircraft maintenance. Sitting for the real thing in 2 weeks. Feeling cautiously optimistic.

The advice about understanding why wrong answers are wrong — not just memorizing right ones — is genuinely the best CAM advice in this thread. Rebuilt my prep around that and it made a real difference.
