After failing my first attempt back in February, I just got my results last week and I passed with a 78. Honestly didn't think I'd get there. The first time I went in barely prepared, figured my on-the-job experience would carry me through. Big mistake. The written portion hit a lot of theory and code specifics I hadn't reviewed in years.
What turned things around for me was being really systematic about it. I found a solid ATC study guide that broke down the domains clearly, and I started doing timed ATC practice test sessions every evening for about 45 minutes. Doing those under time pressure made a huge difference — I was pacing myself much better on exam day.
Biggest weak spots for me personally were the regulatory sections and equipment calibration procedures. Anyone else struggle with those? I'm happy to share the specific resources I used if people are interested. Just wanted to post something here because I wish I'd found more honest accounts when I was studying the first time around.
