Finally passed the ASD exam after two attempts — what actually helped

I just got my results back and I finally passed the ASD certification exam on my second try. First attempt I scored a 68, which was close but not close enough, so I spent another six weeks really digging in before retesting. Wanted to share what made the difference because I honestly couldn't find much practical advice when I was searching around.

The biggest thing that changed my approach was finding a solid ASD practice test that actually matched the question style on the real exam. Not just topic coverage — the way the questions are worded matters a lot. I also worked through a structured study guide instead of just reading the material randomly, which helped me stop wasting time on stuff I already knew and focus on my weak spots (for me it was the compliance and documentation sections).

Anyone else currently prepping? Happy to share more specific exam tips if you're struggling with a particular section. What's tripping you up?

Congrats on passing! I'm about three weeks out from my test date and the compliance questions are killing me too. I've been doing about 90 minutes of studying each night after work. Can I ask — did you use any specific resources for the documentation section or mostly just the official materials? I feel like the official stuff is pretty dry and hard to retain.

Second attempt is so common with this exam, you're not alone. I passed on my first try but honestly I think I got lucky on a few questions. My advice: don't just read the explanations when you get a practice question wrong — rewrite the concept in your own words. Takes longer but it sticks way better. I gave myself 8 weeks total and hit around 20 hours of actual study time.

This is super encouraging, thanks for posting this. I've been putting off scheduling my exam because I'm scared of failing. Maybe I just need to book the date and commit. Did you feel like your second attempt was noticeably easier or was it roughly the same difficulty level?
