Finally passed APRP after two attempts — here's what actually worked

So I just got my APRP results back last week and I finally passed on my second try. First attempt I scored a 71 and needed a 75, which was honestly devastating after three months of prep. The thing that tripped me up was the claims management and salvage sections — I kept underestimating how deep they go on subrogation procedures.

What made the difference this time was finding a solid APRP practice test that actually matched the question style on the real exam. Multiple choice wording on this certification is sneaky — they love "except" and "most likely" phrasing that can flip your answer if you're not paying attention. I also completely rebuilt my approach using a structured study guide instead of just reading the AICPCU material cover to cover like I did the first time.

Anyone else prepping right now? Happy to share my week-by-week breakdown. My biggest exam tip would be to not skip the total loss valuation content — at least 8-10 questions touched that area when I sat for it.

Congrats! I'm sitting for it in about six weeks and the salvage/subrogation stuff is exactly where I'm struggling too. How many practice questions do you think you did total before your second attempt? I've been averaging maybe 20-30 a day but I'm not sure if that's enough. Also did you use any specific resource for the total loss material or just the textbook?

The 'except' question wording is so real. I passed on my first try but honestly think I got lucky on a few of those. One thing that helped me was timing myself strictly — 90 seconds per question max. When I started doing that during practice, my actual test felt way less rushed. The exam tips about pacing are underrated, people focus so much on content they forget the time pressure.

Two attempts is nothing to be embarrassed about — pass rate on this thing is lower than people expect. Solid score to land on too. The claims management depth surprised me as well when I took it last year. Appreciate you sharing the breakdown, helps to know what to prioritize.
