Failed APCSP practice test twice — what am I missing?

So I've been prepping for the AP Computer Science Principles exam for about three weeks now and I'm honestly starting to panic a little. I took two APCSP practice tests this week and scored a 58% and then a 61%. My school's cutoff for the performance task submission is coming up fast and I feel like I don't have a solid grasp on the big ideas — especially Creative Technology and the Internet stuff. The multiple choice questions on data representation keep tripping me up even when I think I understand the concept.

I've been using my textbook and some YouTube videos but I'm wondering if there's a better study guide out there that actually focuses on what shows up most on the real exam. Has anyone found a resource that breaks down the Explore and Create tasks in a way that doesn't feel overwhelming? I'm aiming for at least a 4 and right now that feels far away.

Any exam tips from people who've already taken it would be seriously appreciated. What clicked for you? How many hours did you put in the last two weeks before the exam?

The data representation questions got me too at first — binary, hex, lossless vs lossy compression. What helped me was making a one-page cheat sheet just for that unit and drilling it daily. For the Create task, focus on the required written responses more than the actual code. A lot of people lose easy points there. I put in about 8-10 hours the final two weeks and went from a 3 to a 4.

Honestly the APCSP exam rewards people who understand the vocabulary more than the actual programming. Terms like 'sequential,' 'iterative,' and 'recursive' show up constantly. I'd grab a solid study guide that's organized by the College Board's big ideas — it makes connecting topics way easier. Also don't neglect the Impacts of Computing section, it's like 30% of the exam and people sleep on it.

61% on practice tests three weeks out is totally recoverable. I was in the same spot and ended up with a 4. Just stay consistent — even 45 minutes a day compounds fast. The multiple choice gets predictable once you've seen enough of them.
