Finally passed my AK DMV written test after failing twice — here's what helped
Okay so I'm not proud of this but I failed the Alaska DMV written test twice before finally passing last week. The first time I went in cold thinking it'd be easy — wrong. Second time I studied the handbook for like two days and still missed too many questions on right-of-way and winter driving rules. I was honestly embarrassed.
What finally worked was grinding through an AK DMV practice test every day for about a week. I'd do a full 20-question set in the morning before work, review whatever I got wrong, then do another one at night. The repetition really locked in the stuff I kept blanking on — especially rules around school buses, moose crossings (yes really), and headlight requirements in low visibility.
Anyone else struggle with the Alaska-specific questions? I feel like the standard study guide doesn't cover the winter driving section nearly enough. Happy to share what worked for me if anyone's preparing right now.
