Finally passed my AIT exam after failing twice — here's what worked

I'm not going to sugarcoat it — I bombed this thing twice before I figured out what I was actually doing wrong. First attempt I scored a 64, second time a 71, and I needed a 75 to pass. Both times I thought I was prepared because I'd read through the material, but reading and actually understanding how the questions are framed are completely different things.

What finally turned things around was switching to active recall instead of passive review. I found a solid AIT practice test that simulated the real question style — not just definitions but application-based scenarios — and I drilled those until the format stopped tripping me up. I also built a study guide around the domains I kept missing, specifically the technical compliance and documentation sections. Spent about 3 weeks, roughly 90 minutes a day.

Passed with an 81 on my third try. If you're in the same boat, don't give up — the exam is very passable once you understand what it's actually testing. Happy to share the specific exam tips that helped me most if anyone wants to dig into the details.

This is really encouraging to read, thank you. I'm scheduled for my first attempt in six weeks and the documentation section is already giving me headaches. Can I ask which domains showed up most heavily for you? I've been splitting my time pretty evenly but I'm starting to think I should weight certain areas more. Also did you find the time limit to be an issue or was there enough breathing room?

Three attempts takes real guts to push through — most people quit after two. That 90-minutes-a-day consistency is honestly what separates people who pass from people who keep cramming the week before. Congrats and thanks for coming back to share what worked.

Congrats on passing! I had a similar experience — failed once, then went hard on practice questions and passed the second time with a 78. The thing nobody tells you is how differently the real exam phrases things compared to most prep materials. Once I stopped memorizing facts and started focusing on the reasoning behind each answer choice, everything clicked. Application-focused practice makes a huge difference over straight reading.
