Finally passed my AIP exam after three attempts — here's what worked

So I just got my results back and I finally cleared the AIP certification on my third try. Honestly I was pretty close to giving up after the second failure. My first attempt I went in barely prepared, scored a 61 when I needed a 70. Second time I studied harder but still hit a 68 — two points short, which was brutal. This time I took a completely different approach and it made all the difference.

The biggest change was actually using an AIP practice test consistently instead of just rereading the material. I'd do a full timed practice run every Sunday for six weeks, then spend the rest of the week drilling whatever I got wrong. I also found a solid study guide that broke down the agile principles section in plain language — that section had killed me twice before because I was memorizing definitions instead of understanding the reasoning behind them.

Happy to share more specifics if anyone wants. What topics are you all finding hardest? The metrics and KPIs questions tripped me up a lot in my first two attempts.

Congrats! Three attempts takes real persistence. I'm sitting mine in about six weeks and the agile principles section is exactly what I'm struggling with too. Can I ask how many hours per week you were putting in? I've been doing maybe 4-5 hours but I'm wondering if that's enough or if I need to bump it up closer to the exam date.

This resonates so much. I passed on my second attempt last year and the shift from passive reading to active practice questions was the turning point for me. Also, exam tips I wish I'd known earlier: watch the time on the KPI scenario questions, they take way longer than you expect and I nearly ran out of time in my first sitting. Budget at least 3 minutes per scenario block.

Thanks for posting this — really needed to see a success story right now. Just failed my first attempt last week with a 65. Booking my retake for eight weeks out and starting the practice tests today.
