Failed AET twice — what finally worked for my third attempt?

I'll be honest, I was pretty demoralized after failing the AET the second time. Scored a 71 both times when I needed a 75 to pass. I'd been using random YouTube videos and some old study materials a coworker gave me, but clearly that wasn't cutting it. My employer is covering recertification costs but I'm running out of goodwill here.

What finally turned things around was committing to a structured AET practice test routine — I mean actually timed, conditions as close to the real thing as possible, not just casually clicking through questions. I also found a solid AET study guide that organized the domains by weight, which helped me stop wasting time on low-yield topics and focus on the areas that actually move your score.

Has anyone else gone through multiple attempts? I'm specifically struggling with the technical competency section. Would love to hear what exam tips helped you get over the hump — especially if you passed on a third try like I'm hoping to.

71 twice is actually so close — you clearly know the material. Check if your practice test source matches the current exam version. I was using outdated questions that covered retired content, which threw off my timing and confidence on test day.

Third attempt was my pass too, so don't give up. What helped me most was tracking which question types I consistently missed rather than just retaking full practice tests. I spent two weeks just hammering those weak spots. Also, the technical competency section clicked for me once I started connecting the theory to real job scenarios I'd actually experienced. That contextual framing made a huge difference.

I think a lot of people underestimate how much the domain weighting matters on this exam. I made a spreadsheet from the official exam outline and weighted my study time accordingly. Spent way too long on stuff I already knew my first attempt. Also sleep the night before — sounds obvious but I pulled an all-nighter for my first try and it showed in my score.
