I'm a floor nurse with 6 years of experience and I'm embarrassed to admit I failed ACLS certification twice before finally passing last month. The first time I blamed test anxiety. The second time I had no excuse — I just didn't study the algorithms deeply enough. My manager was starting to make comments and I was genuinely stressed about keeping my job on the cardiac step-down unit.
What changed for me on attempt three was drilling the bradycardia and pulseless arrest algorithms until I could recite them in my sleep. I found the FREE ACLS Bradycardia Question and Answers practice set especially useful because the questions are worded the way the actual exam phrases things — not textbook language. I also printed the full ACLS algorithms and taped them to my bathroom mirror. Sounds ridiculous but it worked.
Anyone else struggle with the pharmacology sections? I kept mixing up the atropine dosing versus adenosine. Passed with an 84 this time, which isn't glamorous but I'll absolutely take it. Happy to share my full study schedule if anyone wants it.
