I've done 10 practice tests now and my scores on CLEP exam questions are consistently lower than everything else.
I understand the concept when it's explained directly, but when it shows up in a scenario or application question I freeze up. It's like my brain knows the theory but can't connect it to a real situation fast enough.
Currently spending extra time on "CLEP" study material but I don't feel like it's clicking. Has anyone dealt with this and found a specific approach that helped?
Things I've tried:
- Re-reading the textbook section (not helping)
- More practice questions on this topic specifically (some improvement but not enough)
- Watching YouTube explanations (hit or miss)
Any advice on how to actually internalize this concept rather than just memorizing surface-level facts?
Quick data point: I spent 4 weeks studying, 2-2 hours a day, and passed with a 79%.
The section on CLEP exam took me the longest to feel confident about. Eventually I just drilled practice questions until I could answer them without hesitation.
What testing center did you end up booking? Some of them have much shorter wait times than others right now.
Same boat a few months ago. Here's what I'd tell myself:
The CLEP exam is more concept-focused than the study guides suggest. They test whether you understand CLEP, not just whether you can define it.
My tip: when you see a scenario question, mentally walk through it step by step before looking at the answers. The wrong answers are designed to catch people who jump to conclusions.
Good luck — the fact that you're doing this level of prep means you're going to be fine.
