Answer: 40.5 feet
3 floors × 12 ft = 36 ft + 3 floor assemblies × 1.5 ft = 4.5 ft; total = 40.5 feet.
A department requires 1 firefighter for every 1,000 sq ft of structure fire suppression. If a building has 7,500 sq ft, how many firefighters are needed?
Answer: 8
7,500 ÷ 1,000 = 7.5, rounded up to 8 firefighters.
A fire station receives an average of 480 calls per year. What is the average number of calls per day?
Answer: 1.3
480 ÷ 365 ≈ 1.32 ≈ 1.3 calls per day.
Water weighs approximately 8.34 pounds per gallon. What is the weight of 500 gallons of water?
