    Mean = (40 + 55 + 35 + 50) ÷ 4 = 180 ÷ 4 = 45.

    Area = 14 × 12 = 168 sq ft; cost = 168 × $45 = $7,560.

    Each term is doubled then incremented by 1: 2×2+1=5, 5×2+1=11, 11×2+1=23, 23×2+1=47.
