  1. A train travels 240 miles in 3 hours. At the same speed, how far will it travel in 5 hours?

    Answer: 400 miles

    Speed = 240 ÷ 3 = 80 mph; distance in 5 hours = 80 × 5 = 400 miles.

  2. A store marks up items by 40%. If the cost price is $85, what is the selling price?

    Answer: $119.00

    Selling price = $85 × 1.40 = $119.00.

  3. What is the next number in the sequence: 3, 6, 12, 24, ___?

    Each term doubles the previous one; 24 × 2 = 48.

  4. If 5 workers complete a job in 12 days, how many days will 10 workers take to complete the same job?

    Answer: 6 days

    Workers × days is constant; 5 × 12 = 10 × d, so d = 6 days.

  5. A rectangle has a length of 18 cm and a width of 7 cm. What is its area?

    Answer: 126 cm²

    Area = length × width = 18 × 7 = 126 cm².

  6. Sales for Q1 were $48,000 and for Q2 were $60,000. What was the percentage increase?

    Answer: 25%

    Increase = (60,000 − 48,000) ÷ 48,000 × 100 = 25%.

  7. A tank holds 500 liters. It is currently 35% full. How many more liters are needed to fill it?

    Answer: 325 liters

    Current volume = 500 × 0.35 = 175 L; remaining = 500 − 175 = 325 L.
