CSR — The Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) exam is a state-administered certification exam (most prominently in California, overseen by the Court Reporters Board of California) consisting of a written knowledge test of approximately 100 multiple-choice questions covering law, ethics, court procedures, transcription standards, and English skills, plus separate stenographic speed/dictation tests; candidates must score 70% or higher on the written portion to pass.
