CDL Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) Exam
The Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) knowledge exam is administered by each state's Department of Motor Vehicles and is required before obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). It is based on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) CDL standards. The exam covers general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicles, pre-trip inspection, cargo handling, hours of service, and adverse driving conditions. Passing score is typically 80%.
