Year 1 to 2: (12,000 ÷ 120,000) × 100 = 10%. Year 2 to 3: (13,200 ÷ 132,000) × 100 = 10%. Both increases are equal at 10%.
What is 2/5 expressed as a percentage?
Answer: 40%
2 ÷ 5 = 0.40. 0.40 × 100 = 40%.
A company employs staff in a central to regional ratio of 2:8. There are 400 staff in total. How many work centrally?
Answer: 80
Total parts = 10. Central = (2/10) × 400 = 80.
An item costs £560 after a 30% reduction. What was the original price?
Answer: £800
£560 represents 70% of the original price. Original = £560 ÷ 0.70 = £800.
A team of 25 completes a project in 12 days. How many days would a team of 15 take to complete the same project (assuming the same work rate)?
Answer: 20
Total work = 25 × 12 = 300 person-days. Time for 15 people = 300 ÷ 15 = 20 days.
A salary of £45,000 is increased by 4% and then decreased by 4%. What is the final salary?
Answer: £44,928
After 4% increase: £45,000 × 1.04 = £46,800. After 4% decrease: £46,800 × 0.96 = £44,928.
