Answer: 30%
(120 ÷ 400) × 100 = 30%.
A mixture contains ingredients A and B in a 5:3 ratio. If you need 400g of the mixture, how much of ingredient A is needed?
Answer: 250g
Total parts = 8. A's share = (5/8) × 400 = 250g.
A department's budget increased from £90,000 to £99,000. What was the percentage increase?
Answer: 10%
Increase = £9,000. (9,000 ÷ 90,000) × 100 = 10%.
What is 120% of £350?
Answer: £420
120% of £350 = 1.20 × 350 = £420.
A shop has 180 items. 45 are on sale. What percentage are on sale?
Answer: 25%
(45 ÷ 180) × 100 = 25%.
Two projects share costs in a ratio of 4:6. If the total cost is £5,000, how much does the smaller project bear?
Answer: £2,000
Total parts = 10. Smaller share (4 parts) = (4/10) × £5,000 = £2,000.
