  1. What is the volume of a cylinder with a radius of 3 inches and a height of 10 inches? (Use π ≈ 3.14)

    Answer: 282.6 cubic inches

    Volume of a cylinder = πr²h = 3.14 × 9 × 10 = 282.6 cubic inches.

  2. On a map, 1 inch represents 50 miles. If two cities are 3.5 inches apart on the map, how far apart are they in real life?

    Answer: 175 miles

Using the scale: 3.5 × 50 = 175 miles between the two cities.

  3. How many sides does a regular hexagon have, and what is the sum of its interior angles?

    Answer: 6 sides; 720°

    A hexagon has 6 sides, and the sum of interior angles = (6 − 2) × 180° = 720°.

  4. A square has an area of 49 square feet. What is the length of one of its sides?

    Answer: 7 feet

    Area of a square = side², so side = √49 = 7 feet.

  5. A room is 15 feet long and 12 feet wide. How many square yards of carpet are needed to cover the floor? (1 yard = 3 feet)

    Answer: 20 square yards

    Convert dimensions to yards: 15÷3 = 5 yd and 12÷3 = 4 yd; Area = 5 × 4 = 20 square yards.

  6. A rectangle has a perimeter of 54 cm and a width of 9 cm. What is its length?

    Answer: 18 cm

    Perimeter = 2(length + width), so 54 = 2(length + 9), giving length + 9 = 27, and length = 18 cm.

  7. A triangle has angles measuring 45° and 80°. What is the measure of the third angle?

    Answer: 55°

    The sum of angles in a triangle is 180°, so the third angle = 180° − 45° − 80° = 55°.
