  1. Soldier A can dig a trench in 6 hours and Soldier B in 4 hours. How long will it take working together?

    Answer: 2.4 hours

    Combined rate = 1/6 + 1/4 = 5/12; time = 12/5 = 2.4 hours.

  2. A rectangular field is 120 m long and 80 m wide. What is its area in hectares? (1 hectare = 10,000 m²)

    Answer: 0.96 ha

    Area = 120 × 80 = 9,600 m²; 9,600 ÷ 10,000 = 0.96 ha.

  3. A tank is filled by Pipe A in 3 hours and drained by Pipe B in 6 hours. With both open, how long to fill the empty tank?

    Answer: 6 hours

    Net fill rate = 1/3 − 1/6 = 1/6 per hour; time = 6 hours.

  4. A 40-liter solution is 25% salt. How many liters of water must be added to reduce the salt concentration to 20%?

    Answer: 10 liters

    Salt = 10 L; for 20% concentration, total solution = 10 ÷ 0.20 = 50 L; add 10 L of water.

  5. A circular target has a radius of 7 m. What is its area? (Use π ≈ 3.14)

    Answer: 153.86 m²

    Area = π × r² = 3.14 × 49 = 153.86 m².

  6. Worker X completes a task in 10 days. After 2 days alone, Worker Y joins and they finish in 3 more days. How long would Worker Y take alone?

    Answer: 6 days

    X does 1/5 initially; remaining 4/5 requires Y to contribute 1/2 over 3 days, giving Y a solo rate of 1/6 per day — 6 days total.

  7. A rectangular room is 9 m × 6 m. Square tiles measure 30 cm × 30 cm. How many tiles are needed to cover the floor?

    Answer: 600

    Room area = 900 × 600 = 540,000 cm²; tile area = 900 cm²; tiles needed = 600.
