CCE Canvas Modules & Course Organization 1

Question 1

What is the primary purpose of Canvas Modules in a course?

Accepted Answer

To organize course content into a sequential, structured learning path

Answer

Canvas Modules allow instructors to organize content—assignments, pages, quizzes, files—into ordered units that guide students through the course in a deliberate sequence.

Question 2

Which completion requirement in Canvas Modules requires students to submit an assignment before it is marked complete?

Accepted Answer

Must Submit

Answer

'Must Submit' marks a module item complete only after the student has submitted the associated assignment, quiz, or discussion.

Question 3

What does setting a 'Prerequisite' on a Canvas Module accomplish?

Accepted Answer

It prevents students from accessing the module until a prior specified module is completed

Answer

A Module Prerequisite enforces a sequential learning path by requiring students to complete a designated prior module before the current one becomes accessible.

Question 4

Which of the following content types CANNOT be added directly as an item inside a Canvas Module?

Accepted Answer

Rubrics

Answer

Rubrics in Canvas are attached to assignments and cannot be added as standalone module items; the other three types can each be added directly.

Question 5

When an instructor publishes a Canvas Module but leaves individual items inside it unpublished, what do students see?

Accepted Answer

The module appears in the list, but unpublished items are hidden from students

Answer

In Canvas, item-level publish status overrides module-level status; students can see the published module but individual unpublished items remain hidden from their view.
