  1. A series of figures shows a star with an increasing number of points: 4, 5, 6, 7... What comes next?

    Answer: 8

Each figure adds one point to the star, so the next star has 8 points.

  2. In a visual matrix series, a small black square moves one cell to the right each step in a 4-cell row. After reaching the rightmost cell, it wraps to the leftmost cell. If it starts in cell 1, which cell is it in after 9 moves?

    Answer: Cell 2

    After 9 moves from cell 1: (1 + 9 − 1) mod 4 + 1 = 9 mod 4 + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2, so it's in cell 2.

  3. A series shows concentric rings added to a circle: figure 1 has 1 ring, figure 2 has 2 rings, figure 3 has 3 rings. Each new ring is the same thickness. Which figure first has more than 5 rings?

    Answer: Figure 6

Since each figure adds exactly one ring, Figure 6 is the first to have 6 rings, which exceeds 5.

  4. In a series, each shape is reflected horizontally from the previous one. If Figure 1 shows an arrow pointing right, what does Figure 4 show?

    Answer: Arrow pointing right

Reflecting horizontally alternates left/right: F1=right, F2=left, F3=right, F4=left — but even figures point left, so F4 points left.

  5. A series of figures shows the number of sides of each polygon increasing by 1: triangle (3), square (4), pentagon (5)... What is the 7th shape in the series?

    Answer: Nonagon (9 sides)

The first shape (triangle) has 3 sides, so the nth shape has n+2 sides; the 7th shape has 7+2 = 9 sides (nonagon).

  6. A visual series shows alternating patterns: shaded-unshaded-shaded-unshaded in a row of 4 squares. In the next row the pattern shifts one cell to the right. In row 3, which cell is shaded first?

    Answer: Cell 3

Row 1 starts shaded at cell 1, Row 2 shifts right (shaded at cell 2), Row 3 shifts again so the first shaded cell is cell 3.

  7. In a series, a diagonal line inside a square rotates 90° clockwise each step: starting at the top-left to bottom-right diagonal. After 5 steps, what orientation does the line have?

    Answer: Top-left to bottom-right (original)

Rotating 90° four times completes a full 360° cycle; after 5 rotations, the line is back to its original orientation (top-left to bottom-right).
