A series of shapes follows this rule: Circle → Square → Triangle → Circle → Square → ? What comes next?
Answer: Triangle
The pattern repeats every three shapes (Circle, Square, Triangle), so after Square comes Triangle.
Each row in a 3×3 grid contains a large, medium, and small version of the same shape. The top row has large circle, medium circle, small circle. The middle row has large square, medium square, small square. The bottom row has large triangle, medium triangle, and a missing piece. What is missing?
Answer: Small triangle
Each row decreases in size left to right, so the bottom row ends with a small triangle.
A figure is rotated 90° clockwise each step. After three rotations from the original position, how many total degrees has the figure been rotated?
Answer: 270°
Three rotations of 90° each equals 3 × 90° = 270° total rotation.
In an abstract matrix, the number of sides of each shape increases by one across each row (3, 4, 5) and also increases by one down each column. The top-left is a triangle (3 sides). What shape appears in the bottom-right of a 3×3 grid?
Answer: Heptagon (7 sides)
Starting at 3 sides and adding 1 per step, the bottom-right position (row 3, col 3) = 3+2+2 = 7 sides.
Which of the following does NOT belong with the others based on symmetry? A) Square B) Rectangle C) Regular hexagon D) Scalene triangle
Answer: Scalene triangle
A scalene triangle has no line of symmetry, while squares, rectangles, and regular hexagons all have at least one.
A pattern shows: 2 dots, 4 dots, 8 dots, 16 dots. If this pattern continues, what is the next number of dots?
Answer: 32
Each term doubles the previous one, so 16 × 2 = 32.
In a sequence of figures, each figure has one more shaded region than the previous. Figure 1 has 1 shaded region, Figure 2 has 2, Figure 3 has 3. Figure 6 would have how many shaded regions?
Answer: 6
The number of shaded regions equals the figure number, so Figure 6 has 6 shaded regions.
