  1. What is 3/4 + 5/6?

    Answer: 19/12

    Find a common denominator: LCM(4,6) = 12. Convert: 3/4 = 9/12 and 5/6 = 10/12. Sum = 19/12.

    Answer: 56

    35% × 160 = 0.35 × 160 = 56.

  3. If 40% of a number is 68, what is the number?

    Answer: 170

    Let n be the number. 0.40 × n = 68, so n = 68 ÷ 0.40 = 170.

  4. What is 5/6 ÷ 2/3?

    Answer: 5/4

    Dividing by a fraction means multiplying by its reciprocal: 5/6 × 3/2 = 15/12 = 5/4.

  5. A jacket's price rises from $80 to $100. What is the percent increase?

    Answer: 25%

    Percent increase = (change ÷ original) × 100 = (20 ÷ 80) × 100 = 25%.

  6. Express 0.625 as a fraction in lowest terms.

    Answer: 5/8

    0.625 = 625/1000. Dividing numerator and denominator by 125 gives 5/8.
