A rectangle has a length of 12 cm and a width of 7 cm. What is the area of the rectangle?
Answer: 84 cm²
Area of a rectangle = length × width = 12 × 7 = 84 cm².
Which expression is equivalent to 3(x + 4) − 2x?
Answer: x + 12
Distribute: 3x + 12 − 2x = x + 12.
A bag contains 5 red, 3 blue, and 2 green marbles. If one marble is chosen at random, what is the probability it is blue?
Answer: 3/10
P(blue) = 3 out of 5+3+2 = 10 total marbles, so 3/10.
The ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3:5. If there are 24 boys, how many girls are there?
Answer: 40
If 3 parts = 24 boys, then 1 part = 8, so 5 parts = 40 girls.
What is the value of 2³ × 5 − 4²?
Answer: 24
2³ = 8, 4² = 16, so 8 × 5 − 16 = 40 − 16 = 24.
On a number line, which point is located at −3.5?
Answer: Between −4 and −3, exactly in the middle
−3.5 is exactly halfway between −4 and −3 on the number line.
A store sells notebooks for $2.75 each. Maria buys 4 notebooks and pays with a $20 bill. How much change does she receive?

4 × $2.75 = $11.00; change = $20.00 − $11.00 = $9.00.
