  1. A rectangular room is 15 ft long and 10 ft wide. How many square feet of carpet are needed to cover the floor?

    Answer: 150 ft²

    Area = length × width = 15 × 10 = 150 ft².

  2. What do you call a polygon with 8 sides?

    Answer: Octagon

An octagon has 8 sides; 'octo' is the Latin prefix for eight.

  3. If two lines intersect, the angles directly across from each other are called:

    Answer: Vertical angles

Vertical angles are the opposite pairs formed when two lines intersect, and they are always equal in measure.

  4. A parallelogram has a base of 10 m and a height of 4 m. What is its area?

    Answer: 40 m²

    Area of a parallelogram = base × height = 10 × 4 = 40 m².

  5. Which of the following is NOT a property of a rectangle?

Answer: All four sides are equal in length

Having all four sides equal is a property of a square (or rhombus), not a rectangle in general.

  6. What is the measure of each interior angle of a regular hexagon?

    Answer: 120°

    Sum of interior angles of a hexagon = (6−2)×180° = 720°; each angle = 720° ÷ 6 = 120°.

  7. A right triangle has legs of 5 cm and 12 cm. What is the length of the hypotenuse?

    Answer: 13 cm

    Using the Pythagorean theorem: 5² + 12² = 25 + 144 = 169, so hypotenuse = √169 = 13 cm.
