Answer: $345
$45 × 6 = $270 for labor; $270 + $75 = $345 total.
If 5 pounds of coffee costs $22.50, what is the cost per pound?
Answer: $4.50
$22.50 ÷ 5 = $4.50 per pound.
A car traveled 90 miles on 3 gallons of gas. At this rate, how many gallons are needed to travel 270 miles?
Answer: 9 gallons
90 miles uses 3 gallons, so 270 ÷ 90 × 3 = 9 gallons.
Lisa saves $35 each week. How many weeks will it take her to save at least $500?
Answer: 15 weeks
500 ÷ 35 ≈ 14.28, so she needs 15 full weeks to have at least $500.
Three friends share the cost of a $96 dinner equally. If each person also leaves an $8 tip, how much does each person pay in total?
Answer: $40
$96 ÷ 3 = $32 per person for dinner; $32 + $8 = $40 total each.
A bag contains red, blue, and green marbles. There are 12 red, 8 blue, and 20 green marbles. What fraction of the marbles are blue?
Answer: 1/5
Total = 40 marbles; 8 ÷ 40 = 1/5 are blue.
A factory produces 840 items in 7 hours. If the factory runs for 10 hours, how many items will it produce?
Answer: 1,200 items
Rate = 840 ÷ 7 = 120 items/hour; 120 × 10 = 1,200 items.
