  1. A resistor of 10 Ω is connected in parallel with another resistor of 40 Ω. What is the equivalent resistance?

    Answer: 8 Ω

    For parallel resistors: 1/R = 1/10 + 1/40 = 5/40, so R = 8 Ω.

  2. Which of the following best describes the behavior of an inductor in a DC steady-state circuit?

    Answer: It acts as a short circuit

    In DC steady state, the inductor has no changing current, so its voltage drop is zero — it acts as a short circuit (wire).

  3. If the voltage across a 5 Ω resistor is 20 V, what is the power dissipated?

    Answer: 80 W

    P = V²/R = 400/5 = 80 W.

  4. Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL) is based on which conservation principle?

    Answer: Conservation of charge

    KCL states that the algebraic sum of currents at a node is zero, which follows from conservation of electric charge.

  5. A 100 μF capacitor is charged to 50 V. How much energy is stored?

    Answer: 0.125 J

    E = ½CV² = ½ × 100×10⁻⁶ × 2500 = 0.125 J.

  6. What happens to the total resistance of a series circuit when one more resistor is added?

    Answer: It increases

    Series resistances add directly, so adding any positive resistance always increases total resistance.

  7. Which law relates the magnetic field around a conductor to the current flowing through it?

    Answer: Ampere's Law

    Ampere's Law states that the line integral of magnetic field around a closed path equals the enclosed current times μ₀.
