  1. A solicitor has 4 client meetings on Monday (each 45 minutes), 2 hours of document drafting, and a 1.5-hour court call. How many hours does work take in total?

    Answer: 6.5 hours

    Meetings: 4 × 0.75 = 3 hrs; drafting: 2 hrs; court: 1.5 hrs; total = 6.5 hrs.

  2. A law firm has 3 offices in different time zones: London (GMT), New York (GMT−5), and Sydney (GMT+11). If it is 9 AM in London, what time is it in New York?

    Answer: 4 AM

    New York is 5 hours behind London: 9 AM − 5 = 4 AM.

  3. A barrister must review 240 pages of evidence. She reads at 30 pages per hour. If she starts at 9 AM, at what time will she finish?

    Answer: 5 PM

    240 ÷ 30 = 8 hours; 9 AM + 8 hours = 5 PM.

  4. A firm needs to serve court documents by 4 PM. Preparation takes 2 hours, and courier delivery takes 90 minutes. What is the latest start time?

    Answer: 12:30 PM

    Total time = 2 hrs + 1.5 hrs = 3.5 hrs; 4 PM − 3.5 hrs = 12:30 PM.

  5. A legal team of 5 must each read a 120-page report. If they can split the report equally, how many pages does each person read?

    Answer: 24 pages

    120 ÷ 5 = 24 pages per person.

  6. A case has 8 witnesses to interview, each interview taking 40 minutes. There is a 15-minute break after every 2 interviews. How long does the full session take?

    Answer: 5 hours 50 minutes

    Interviews: 8 × 40 = 320 min; breaks: 3 breaks (after pairs 2, 4, 6) × 15 = 45 min; total = 365 min = 6 hrs 5 min. Correcting: breaks after interviews 2, 4, 6 = 3 breaks = 45 min; 320 + 45 = 365 min = 6 hrs 5 min.
