Probability = favorable outcomes ÷ total outcomes = 5 ÷ 10 = 5/10 = 1/2.
What is the mean of the numbers 8, 12, 15, 9, 16?
Answer: 12
Mean = sum ÷ count = (8 + 12 + 15 + 9 + 16) ÷ 5 = 60 ÷ 5 = 12.
A number pattern begins: 2, 6, 18, 54, ... What is the next number?
Answer: 162
Each term is multiplied by 3: 54 × 3 = 162.
If f(x) = 2x² − 3, what is f(4)?
Answer: 29
f(4) = 2(4²) − 3 = 2(16) − 3 = 32 − 3 = 29.
