AZELLA — The Arizona English Language Learner Assessment (AZELLA) is administered by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) to identify and annually monitor the English language proficiency of K–12 English Language Learners across four domains — Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing — with five proficiency levels (Pre-Emergent through Proficient); students must reach the Proficient level to be reclassified as Fluent English Proficient under Arizona law (ARS §15-756.01).
