AutoCAD Software 2025
AutoCAD is a CAD tool for designing and drafting in two and three dimensions. AutoCAD was one of the first CAD systems to run on personal computers. It was developed and marketed by Autodesk Inc. Since the introduction of AutoCAD in 2007, Autodesk has collaborated with Inventor and SolidWorks to produce an integrated suite of CAD applications. AutoCAD 2010 was released at the end of 2009.
Autodesk acquired AutoDesk Inc. in December 2000; the company changed its name to Autodesk, Inc., with Autodesk Software, Inc., retaining a separate identity as an independent subsidiary. In 2005, Autodesk acquired Envision Technology’s “Digital Prototyping” and “Sculpture” products within AutoCAD/Mechanical 2013/14 along with Titan3D’s 3D VIs for integration into the same product.

AutoCAD double arrow head
The double-ended arrows indicated prefabricated spans with a very wide arrow. The other was for a more traditional thin arrow (such as the leader arrow) to indicate the span’s width. The more typical double-ended arrow was sometimes used as a proxy for adjustable lengths, where the thin head could be placed in different positions to show its length.
In AutoCAD 2008, the double-ended arrows have been removed from its menu bar and environment. They can be found in the “Geometry” menu, called “AutoCAD Leader Arrow Property.” Another example of their use can be seen in their use of the “Leader” tool. They are used similarly as the solid leader tools of other 3D programs.
The AutoCAD 2007 release included a new version of this command, allowing for a more precise representation of angles on an arc. When an arc is displayed with this command, both arcs will differ in angle by less than 0.25 degrees, and they will both intersect at 90 degrees at a point on their arcs, which allows the lines to be drawn tangent those arcs.
AutoCAD Egnyte
The Egnyte AutoCAD Plugin allows users to save their AutoCAD files directly to their Egnyte account, eliminating the need to remember which file to email or share. Security and governance policies secure all files kept in Egnyte, ensuring data security compliance.
The Egnyte AutoCAD plugin allows users to save their AutoCAD files directly to their Egnyte account, eliminating the need to remember which file to email or share. Furthermore, all files saved in Egnyte are safeguarded by security and governance regulations, ensuring that they are always secure.
Organizations can use Egnyte to store, manage, and collaborate on files across teams. Files can be kept on-site, in the cloud, or on NAS devices connected to your job site trailer. AutoCAD LT — AutoCAD LT (Limited To) is the lightweight version of AutoCAD, designed to run on slower machines and provide an older look and feel. The features of AutoCAD LT are similar to that of AutoCAD, with only limited capabilities.
AutoCAD VP Lineweight
Lineweight is a property that causes thicker, darker lines in graphical objects, hatches, leader lines, and dimension geometry. Until you make another lineweight current, the current lineweight is allocated to all new objects. You can set lineweight to ByLayer or ByBlock in addition to specifying an explicit value for it. The vp lineweight command is an explicit value representation of the Noun/verb pairing. The current rhetoric is spoken as “VP lineweight,” and the response is “Lineweight=” where the is a number from 0.1 to 999.9, indicating the thickness in tenths of a millimeter. If a number less than 0 or greater than 999 is given, then an error message will be displayed saying:
“Invalid Lineweight=”.
Currently, two objects create lineweights that are not affected in their representation by VP lineweight (since they both have named exclusive lineweights). These are Hatch and DIMLINEARGRADIENT (naturally enough).
The Hatch lineweight can have a lineweight specified in the hatch pattern. The DIMLINEARGRADIENT has a Lineweight property, from 0 to 1. The one with a more complex formula deviates the further from 1 it is set. A lineweight of 0 is the equivalent of having no linear-gradient object at all, at least visually speaking.
Lineweights are not persistent in their representation by VP lineweight.
Delete viewport AutoCAD
The Delete Viewport command will delete the current viewport. It is a toggle button. Thus it can be undone by clicking on it again. By utilizing the Viewport Header command, you can open the viewport. The new viewport will have the same position and size as the previous one.
In AutoCAD 2025, how can I delete a viewport?
1. Select the View tab. The panel of Viewports Named. Find.
2. Select the name of the viewport configuration you want to delete from the Named
3. Viewports tab of the Viewports dialog box.
4. To delete something, press the DELETE key.

How to put the toolbar on the left in AutoCAD?
Select the More Tools button after clicking the Customize Ribbon tab. It will appear on the right side of your screen when you click it. Drag the toolbar to the left side of the screen from where it is now. It’ll moor there. Or you can reorder the menu bar.
You can work more efficiently on your design projects now that you can position the toolbar on the left in AutoCAD.
AutoCAD Object List
DBLIST generates a list of all the objects in your drawing. When debugging objects, having a list of them can be helpful. DBLIST can help you with that. Type the command on the command line and hit Enter when the command pauses. The list will display all of the objects in your drawing and provide information about each one.
You can also use the ISOLAYER command to isolate the objects in each layer of your drawing. The first layer will be listed as Layer1, the second as Layer2, etc.
Xref AutoCAD
XREF in AutoCAD An Xref refers to an external file that appears in the current drawing and provides the appearance of being a part of it. When Xrefs are compared to blocks, they have a significant advantage over the latter. Xrefs are always immediately visible to the user and completely independent of the user’s drawing. They can be viewed within the AutoCAD file system or as a separate graphics file. Xrefs are very useful as they can provide a common unit of measure without unrealistic constraints, such as linear dimension.
X-RREF can compare two xrefs, creating an output file with their differences.
Note that line art and titles are displayed when creating xrefs outside AutoCAD and inserted into your drawing once imported into AutoCAD for viewing purposes.
DIMBREAK in AutoCAD
When dimension and extension lines intersect other objects, DIMBREAK (Command) breaks or restores them. DIMBREAK is a toggle button. Clicking on it will break the dimension and extension lines into separate segments. A break symbol ((O)) will appear where the lines cross. Clicking the toggle button again will restore them into a single line.
DIMBREAK is useful for breaking a dimension or extension line into two separate lines, but you do not want to create a new segment.
Also, keep in mind that when DIMBREAK is turned on, the break symbol will only appear once.
Remember that DIMBREAK can be activated from the View tab of the Ribbon with the DIMBREAK command. From there, click on Dimbreak or press Ctrl and F4 together.
Some CAD software packages also have an option (usually in the Dimension Command) called “DIMEXTEND.
Pedit AutoCAD
Joining 2D polylines, converting lines and arcs into 2D polylines, and transforming polylines into curves that mimic B-splines are common uses for PEDIT (spline-fit polylines). Depending on the type of object you want to alter, you’ll see different prompts. PEDIT is a toggle button. You can toggle it in or out, and full or partial editing will occur, as shown in the figure below.
Only one line will be modified at a time when combining 2D polylines; if you wish to edit an entire set of lines, press and hold the Ctrl key and click on them all at once.
PEDIT is also useful for quickly converting lines and arcs into 2D polylines. Keep the cursor over one of the desired lines until the curved option appears (looking like a pencil).
Freeze in Viewport AutoCAD
Freeze in viewport (Command) freezes the current viewport. A frozen viewport contains the current visuals, but it does not accept new lines. It can be used during the editing process while a drawing is open. AutoCAD will not allow new lines to be drawn when a viewport is frozen.
You can, however, alter existing objects in the viewport, such as changing their colors or properties. Press Ctrl+F9 to freeze a current viewport and Ctrl+F10 to unfreeze it.
The Viewports dialog box also allows you to freeze or unfreeze a specific viewport. Access the Viewports tab and click on the name of the desired viewport configuration. A drop-down menu will appear at the top of this panel that contains Freeze and Unfreeze options (in addition to other actions).
Layer Walk AutoCAD
When receiving or starting work on a fresh layout drawing, layer walking is a crucial step. By seeing the drawing layer by layer, you can rapidly learn how it is organized. A layer walker can be considered a tool for exploring AutoCAD objects. If you select (Command) the LAYER command, a dialog box will appear that displays the name of the current layer and its contents.
You can use this dialog box as a layer walker by just clicking on each layer to see what it contains. This is particularly useful for new AutoCAD users.
Layer walk can be invoked from the View tab of the Ribbon in AutoCAD, with the LAYER command combination. Click on Layer Walk and choose one of several commands: All, Active Selection, Current Selection, and New Layer Only. Each will display information about screen areas in relation to other objects with which they are associated.
Unreconciled Layers AutoCAD
Unreconciled layers are newly added layers to the drawing that have not yet been acknowledged by the user and marked as reconciled manually. AutoCAD will occasionally warn the user of unreconciled layers. When AutoCAD warns you, click on the message and it will take you to the Layer Manager’s “Unreconciled Layers” tab. In this tab, scroll through the list until you find layers in red that are new to the drawing.
Unreconciled layers can be reconciled by right-clicking them and selecting Reconcile Layer from the context menu. The Unreconciled New Layers filter is removed once a layer has been reconciled. The Unreconciled New Layers filter is removed once all new layers have been reconciled.
AutoCAD text fill
AutoCAD text fill can be used to give text a graphic fill but retain its text appearance. AutoCAD automatically applies the fill to selected lines and objects. AutoCAD text fill becomes in effect a layer that draws over the drawing and has no special color associated with it. However, for features that are added to this layer, the Fill Color property can be used to assign colors or patterns.
Autocad Tutorial PDF
Those unfamiliar with CAD and AutoCAD may find the program confusing, but it is not difficult to learn with the right training. Finding an online course or tutorial that best suits your learning tastes and needs is the easiest approach to learning AutoCAD on your own. For example, AutoCAD civil 3d user guide PDF, AutoCAD 2009 tutorial PDF, AutoCAD civil 3d 2018 tutorial PDF, and AutoCAD architecture tutorial PDF may all be found online. Fortunately, there are many AutoCAD study resources available on the web. Taking a free AutoCAD certification exam is one of the best resources. This will be a way for you to put your AutoCAD skills to the test.
