  1. A series: 2, 6, 18, 54, ... What is the 6th term?

    Answer: 486

    Each term is multiplied by 3; 5th term = 162, 6th term = 162 × 3 = 486.

  2. What percentage of 250 is 75?

    Answer: 30%

    (75/250) × 100 = 30%.

  3. If the cost price of 15 articles equals the selling price of 12 articles, what is the profit percentage?

    Answer: 25%

    CP of 15 = SP of 12; profit = 3 articles on CP of 12; profit% = (3/12) × 100 = 25%.

  4. A ladder 10 m long leans against a wall. If the base is 6 m from the wall, how high does the ladder reach?

    Answer: 8 m

    By Pythagorean theorem: height² = 10² - 6² = 100 - 36 = 64; height = 8 m.

  5. If x% of 400 = 80, then x = ?

    Answer: 20

    (x/100) × 400 = 80; 4x = 80; x = 20.

  6. The ages of A and B are in the ratio 3:5. After 10 years, the ratio becomes 5:7. What is B's current age?

    Answer: 25 years

    Let ages = 3k and 5k; (3k+10)/(5k+10) = 5/7; 21k+70 = 25k+50; 4k = 20; k = 5; B = 25.

  7. What is the median of the data set: 14, 7, 23, 19, 11, 3, 28?

    Answer: 14

    Sorted: 3, 7, 11, 14, 19, 23, 28; median is the 4th value = 14.
